current movement
There has been progress this evening, albeit restrained: My roommate has let Gutter Cat sit on his lap. He still refuses to pet GC, but it is an important step, none the less.
Comments:
Have you thought of putting your spare washer to use and giving GC a bath? Perhaps it would help the open sores and missing patches of hair.

so the cat sitting on your roommates lap is an instance of rising improbability, which taken to an extreme could result in the spontaneous deletion of existence? as much as i would like to see that happen in my future incarnation as an ascended master transcending all laws of space and time, i don't necessarily think that instances of lesser improbability lead to an increased likelihood of events of greater improbability taking place. or perhaps i'm just on mescaline.- joe
